The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (L/SNT1) aims to train future nurses in the field of nursing sciences and enable them for the profession. The nurse is a professional responsible for general nursing care of a technical, relational, and educational nature targeted towards the developmental, adult, and geriatric age groups. The nurse handles preventative, curative, and palliative aspects.
Enrollment in the program is subject to passing a specific entrance exam, as required by national regulations for numerus clausus Health Profession Degree Courses and the University’s Notice.
The Nursing Degree at LUM University enables acquiring skills outlined in the Ministry of Health Decree of September 14, 1994 no. 739, Law 42/99, Law no. 251 of August 10, 2000, as well as subsequent amendments and integrations, and the Nurse Deontological Code.
The educational path of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing allows understanding physiological and pathological processes of the human body and acquiring technical, educational, and relational nursing science skills. These competencies focus on identifying and assessing the care needs of individuals and communities, as well as planning nursing care and establishing a therapeutic relationship with individuals of all ages and increasing health complexity.
The teaching activities of the short Nursing Degree at LUM take place in both traditional and interactive formats at the Acquaviva delle Fonti (BA) campus. Theoretical lessons are complemented by small group lab activities conducted with active teaching methodologies such as role-playing and low, medium, and high-intensity simulation. Student training is completed with internship activities mainly within reference healthcare facilities (hospitals and community-based), alongside appropriately trained preceptors, through which 60 university educational credits (ECTS) are acquired out of the 180 planned for the three-year program.
Some of the ECTS credits of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing can be obtained at other European university campuses through international exchange programs.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is a qualifying program that, upon registration with the Professional Order, enables working in public or private healthcare facilities, in the community and home care, either as a dependent or independent professional, both in Italy and in European Union countries. This profession offers a high employment rate with significant job opportunities abroad.

After completing the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, further academic advancement can be pursued through Advanced Courses, Level I Masters, a master’s degree in Nursing and Obstetrics Sciences. Possession of a master’s degree allows access to Level II Masters and a Doctorate program.
